Public Interest Litigation, Writs & Supreme Court Appeals

Constitutional advocacy with measured, principled strategy.

Overview

Constitutional courts shape the country's legal grammar. We file and defend PILs on issues of fundamental rights, governance and policy — and prosecute SLPs and civil appeals before the Supreme Court with disciplined, brief-driven advocacy.

Our writ practice covers Article 32 (Supreme Court) and Article 226 (High Court) jurisdictions across the full bouquet of writs — mandamus (to compel public duty), certiorari (to quash administrative orders), habeas corpus (illegal detention), quo warranto (challenge to public office), and prohibition (to restrain inferior tribunals).

PIL practice in India is at an inflection — courts have refined locus standi, frivolous-PIL deterrence, and the doctrine of separation of powers. Our PIL filings are vetted at partner level for substantive merit and public-interest character.

Constitutional Practice

  • Public Interest Litigation on environment, health, governance & rights
  • Writs under Article 32 (Supreme Court) and Article 226 (High Court)
  • Habeas corpus, mandamus, certiorari, prohibition, quo warranto
  • Service jurisprudence & disciplinary writs
  • Tax writs challenging assessment and recovery proceedings

Supreme Court Practice

  • Special Leave Petitions (SLP) under Article 136
  • Civil & criminal appeals, transfer petitions
  • Curative & review petitions
  • Review of constitutional bench judgments
  • Brief preparation in coordination with senior counsel and AOR

AOR Briefing Model

Supreme Court matters require Advocates-on-Record (AOR). We coordinate with empanelled AORs and senior counsel for all SC matters — providing the analytical brief, written submissions, supplementary affidavits, and case-law compilation. Our briefs are admired for compression: typically 10-page summaries of complex factual records.

Article 226 — Writ Jurisdiction at Delhi High Court

Article 226 is more flexible than Article 32 — the High Court can issue writs not just for fundamental rights but for 'any other purpose'. This makes Article 226 the workhorse of administrative law in India. Forum: Delhi High Court for matters where cause of action arises in Delhi or against Delhi-based authorities. We file urgent writs (often with same-day mention).
